The Welfare Party of India, in a press statement on 26 June, said there must be a separate ministry of disaster management both at centre and in states to combat the Uttarakhand-like catastrophe. Rejecting the cheap politics game on the calamity, the party urged all to help the victims equally without any differentiation between states and regions. The party also expressed its shock over the death of hundreds in absence of any logistic support i.e. food, blanket, etc.
