The Welfare Party of India (WPI) has decided to contest the local body elections in Andhra Pradesh. “All district units of the party, except Srikakulam and Vizianagaram, are in place. We have received good response in several districts. In some places, people took the WPI team in a rally to the venues of public meeting. This response has given us encouragement to get into action as early as possible,” said Malik Moatasim Khan, state president of the party on 16 March while talking to the Radiance. He further said the party would field the candidates who are of fair background and have some experience of social services. “The party would make an alliance if needed in parliamentary and state elections,” added Mr. Khan.
