Yemen’s Armed Forces launched two ballistic missiles at Tel Aviv, including a new model, to mark the first anniversary of the Palestinian fighters’ Operation al-Aqsa Storm against Israel.Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesperson for Yemen’s military, confirmed the strikes on October 7, identifying the missiles as Palestine-2 and Zulfiqar. “The operation successfully met its objectives,” he stated.
According to a Press TV report, this marks the first use of the Zulfiqar missile in such an operation – a highly maneuverable, radar-evading surface-to-surface missile with a range exceeding 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles).
Earlier that day, Yemen’s forces also targeted Tel Aviv and the southern port of Eilat with several Yaffa and Samad-4 drones. Saree reported that “several of these drones successfully reached their targets.”
These strikes coincide with the one-year anniversary of the storming of Israeli military bases and illegal settlements by fighters from Hamas and Islamic Jihad, capturing over 240 Israelis during the operation.
Saree emphasized that these missile strikes also demonstrate Yemen’s ongoing support for Gaza and Lebanon, both facing intensified Israeli military campaigns since Operation al-Aqsa Storm.
He further stated that Yemen’s military operations would continue until Israel ends its war on Gaza, lifts the siege, and halts its attacks on Lebanon.
On Monday, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, praised the armed forces for their steadfast support for Palestine and Lebanon. He also promised further missile attacks, saying Yemen’s forces would “rain down hypersonic missiles” on Israel, ensuring that the regime “experiences the suffering Palestinians have endured.”
