ZakiaJafari, the widow of former MP Ehsan Jafri who along with 68 others was killed in Gulbarg Society genocide during Gujarat communal riots in 2002, filed a petition in a metropolitan court on 15 April against the closure report of Special Investigation Team that had given a clean chit to Narendra Modi and 62 other complicit. The plaintiff, in her petition, accused the SIT, which was instituted on the direction of the Supreme Court to probe the massacre, of shielding the real culprits and misguiding the court. She also provided 10 CDs and some other evidences in favour of her claim. Most of the evidences attached with the petition have been taken from the report of the SIT itself. The court has ordered the case to be heard on daily basis from 24 April onward.Earlier, the SIT had filed a closure report consisting of 20,000 pages in February last year and said it found no evidence to support the role of Modi and others in the riots.
