President Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Syed Sadatullah Husaini while addressing the monthly press briefing at JIH headquarters on January 2 said it is a very dangerous precedent to look everything through the prism of religion and hate. A very strong social movement is required to challenge this discourse. Referring to some of the recent laws, hate atmosphere and attack on the minority community, he said a social awareness is the need of the hour against all attempts made by the present dispensation to polarise and divide the society on religious lines.

In reply to a question, the JIH president said that CAA should be rescinded because it is against the spirit of the Constitution. While responding to another question on attack on journalists, he said the government should take swift action with the help of existing laws and if need arises law should be enacted for their protection. The journalists also deserve protection given to doctors and other professionals.

On AMU Centenary speech of the Prime Minister, he said we have welcomed what he said for AMU and AMU fraternity but what he said should be backed by action. When he became Prime Minster at that point too he made good statements and we had welcomed at that time also and also expressed our support to what he said. But, unfortunately, his words are not reflected in the action of his government and by his ministers.

Earlier, Vice President of Jamaat, Engineer Mohammad Salim, referring to important events of 2020, like anti-CAA movements, Delhi riots, pandemic, anti-Muslim laws, said it is the responsibility of the society and social groups to work together to defuse the significant rise of the menace of communalisation, religious hatred and polarisation. He also asked the peace-loving people to join hands and pledge to make the year 2021 the year of peace and tolerance.

Dr. Muhammad Raziul Islam Nadvi, Secretary Sharia Council of Jamaat, briefed the guidelines issued by the Sharia Council. He said, “Islam has clearly outlined limits of permissible and impermissible things. It is mandatory to abide by these limitations even during ailments or while taking precautionary measures. That is why the use of any forbidden substance as a medicine is prohibited. If an impermissible object is transformed into another thing, totally different in properties and character, may be considered clean and permissible. On this basis, the use of gelatine derived from the body part of a haram (prohibited) animal has been considered to be permissible by Islamic jurists. Same is the opinion of some jurists about pork gelatine. Even the jurists, who disagree with the above transformation rule, too sanction a vaccine which contains prohibited substances in case of unavailability of halal vaccines, in dire and emergency situations to protect human life.”
