Al Jamia Al Islamiya Shantapuram Concludes Annual Convocation

The Annual Convocation Convention of Al Jamia Al Islamiya Shantapuram concluded on a grand note at Malappuram, Kerala. Dr. Bilal Gokkir, Rector of Yelova University from Turkey who inaugurated the convention said that education system is good only if it benefits the society as a whole.

The Annual Convocation Convention of Al Jamia Al Islamiya Shantapuram concluded on a grand note at Malappuram, Kerala. Dr. Bilal Gokkir, Rector of Yelova University from Turkey who inaugurated the convention said that education system is good only if it benefits the society as a whole. “Graduates from this institution need to be broadminded in their approach. Instead of sidelining those with radical views, they should be guided towards the true light of the Holy Qur’ān and Prophetic traditions, and brought back to the mainstream. Earlier scholars of India played a significant role in making Islamic presence in the region,” he said.

“We should probe the role of Islam in global peace and development of humanity. Also, we should be also inquisitive about why Samarkand and Bukhara went oblivious while western universities like Oxford got prominence,” Dr. Bilal said.

Two hundred ninety-seven students were conferred with ‘Usooluddin Sharia’ graduation. Al Jamia Supreme Council Chairman and Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala Ameer M I Abdul Aziz delivered the convocation address.

“Islam is grossly misunderstood. Young scholars should take up a mission to represent the universality of Islam,” said K.T. Jaleel, Minister for Hajj and Minority Affairs announcing the ‘Knowledge World’ project.

A Waqf building was presented by P.K. Kunhalikkutty, Deputy Opposition leader. Dr. Ali Al Mohammed (Qatar), Dr. Mustafa Aqeel (Qatar), Sheikh Mohammed Sufiyanul Qasmi (Deoband), Moulana Saeed Umeri (Umerabad), Al Jamia Vice President V.K. Ali, Administrative Council Chairman Dr. Koottil Mohammed Ali, Al Jamia Assist. Rector K. Illyas Moulavi and others also felicitated and presented certificates to the students.

Prof. K.A. Siddiq Hassan, P.V. Abdul Wahab M.P, Dr. Gulfar Mohammed Ali, P.K. Group Chairman P.K. Ahmed, Muslim Personal Law Board Vice President Moulana Kaka Saeed Umeri, P. Abdul Hameed MLA, JDT Islam President C.P. Kunjimohammed and others also spoke.

Dr. Abdul Salam Ahmed delivered the welcome note and Convenor A. Farooq proposed vote of thanks. The programme commenced with Quran recital by Basir Bashir.

As part of the conference, an Alumni meet was also held in which all students and teachers from 1955 to 2016 had a get-together. Prof. K.A. Siddiq Hassan inaugurated the Alumni meet. V.K. Ali, President, Alumni Association presided over the function. V.K. Hamza Abbas, Chief Editor, ‘Gulf Madhyamam’, Inayathullah Subhani, T.K. Ubaid, Abdurahman Tharuvai, O.P. Hamza Moulavi, P.K. Jamal, M.T. Aboobaker Moulavi, M.K. Moosa Moulavi, P.M.A Abdul Qadir, K.K. Abida, President SIO Nahas Mala and others also spoke on the occasion.

Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat Former President and Milli Gazette Editor Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan inaugurated the Arabic language conference held as part of the convocation conference. MV Mohammed Salim Moulavi presided over the programme. Prof. Mohammed Sanaullah Nadwi of Department of Arabic in Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Mohammed of Pulikkal M.U.A College, IPH Chief Editor V.A. Kabir, Al Jamia Faculty of Qur’ān Dean Dr. Muhiyuddin Gazi and others addressed the conference.

Women’s Conference was inaugurated by Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala Women’s wing President K. Safiyya Ali. K.K. Suhra, Safiyya Sharafiyya, A. Rahmathunnisa, P. Ruksana, Grama Panchayat Member Muneera Ummer, Melattur AEO Zulaikha, Fatima Sherin and others spoke on the occasion.

A colloquium held on Triple Talaq was inaugurated by Muslim Personal Law Board Vice President Moulana Kaka Saeed Umeri. V.K. Ali, M.V. Saleem Moulavi, K. Abdullah Hassan, K. Illyas Moulavi, Hussain Saqaffi, K.M. Ashraf, T.K. Abdullah and others presented their views.

A cultural conference held under the title ‘Deep State: Conflicts of Secular India’ was inaugurated by renowned writer and critic, K.E.N Kunjahammed. Madhyamam-MediaOne Group editor O. Abdurahman, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Vice President T. Arifali and others also spoke.
