In order to reach out to humanity at large, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Delhi & Haryana organised a 15-day Dawah campaign on “Islam for all”. The campaign commenced on Jan 15 and lasted till Jan 29. During this campaign the Jamaat organised many public meetings and get-togethers in which large numbers of persons belonging to different faiths participated and in which scholars expressed their views.

The campaign started with a public meeting at Raghubir Nagar, West Delhi on Jan 15. This meeting was addressed by a prominent Islamic scholar, writer of many books and translator of the Holy Qur’ān into Hindi, Maulana Muhammad Farooq Khan. He told the audience that Islam is not a property of Muslims. It is a way of life given by the Creator for all mankind and that it is the duty of all Muslims to spread it all over the world.

During the fortnight campaign, the Jamaat organised seven public meetings and 21 get-togethers at various places including Faridabad, Bhalaswa, Sultanpuri, New Seemapuri, Zakir Nagar, Shaheen Bagh, Jehangirpuri, Shaheed Nagar, Agar Nagar, Rohini, Zaidpur, Trilokpuri, Nooh, Palwal and Sonepat. Various folders on Islam and the Qur’ān and CDs were provided for willing persons. Hindi and Bengali translations of the Holy Qur’ān were presented as gifts.

The Jamaat, being fully aware of its responsibility of spreading the message of Allah to all, organises such campaigns regularly. However, this campaign was unique as it tried to reach out to the huge Bengali speaking population residing in various pockets of Delhi and Haryana. And to do so the Jamaat invited two prominent Bengali speakers from West Bengal and Aligarh. Translation of the last chapter of the Holy Qur’ān and some booklets in the Bangla language were also distributed during the campaign.

People were all praise for the effort of the Jamaat and many of our brothers requested the organisers to keep organising such programmes. Many of them said that it was the first time they have received the message of their Creator. They said all their misconceptions about Islam were removed and now they see it in a different light. The participants promised to read the Holy Qur’ān and to keep in touch with the Jamaat for further material on Islam. The demand for the Holy Qur’ān was so overwhelming that many had to go back empty-handed but with the promise that Jamaat workers would soon arrange to deliver copies of the Holy Qur’ān at their doorsteps.
