Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari has urged people to take a lesson from the recent result of Assembly elections. He talked about Muslim unity and urging the Muslims to prove their weight in the country. He was addressing a public meet on the Present Political Scenario and Our Responsibility at JIH headquarters on 18 March.

Explaining the impact of Muslim leaders over Muslims, the JIH chief said that Muslim leaders were divided along party lines. Some appealed to vote for SP while some others called to vote for BSP. Big leaders from the Muslim community appealed to them to vote for a particular party. There is no impact of it. Their appeal did not work. People voted on their own. It is a matter of concern that there is no impact of Muslim leaders’ appeal on Muslims.

Talking on the unity of Muslims, he said it is necessary that Muslims who are divided in different sects and groups should unite. They should work in a united manner. They should ignore mistakes and criticism of each other. They should tolerate each other’s differences. He further said there is also a negative side of Muslim unity at electoral times. Muslims are less than 20 per cent here and the other group is more than 80 per cent. If Muslims get united, other group will also be united. Eighty per cent can defeat easily 20 per cent. While talking about Muslim unity, this also should be kept in mind.

Appealing to the Muslim community to prove their weight in the country, Maulana Umari said that in general there is no weight of Muslims in the country. People don’t realise the benefit of their living in the country. They don’t think that if Muslims would not live here, they would lose something valuable. They don’t think that if Muslims migrate from here, they will lose a lot of doctors, engineers and philosophers. Those who are supporting Muslims think that Muslims are also citizens of the country, they should have right to live here. They show mercy upon you. Even they don’t think there is a benefit of Muslims’ living here. So, Muslims should prove their benefit of living in the country. This is a lesson for one and all.

Urging people to follow Islamic guidance in their life, he said there is no need to be hopeless. If you continue to make efforts, Allah will give the result of it. If you are true believers, you will take over. But you should practise Islam in your life such as Salah and Zakah. Any party is not preventing you from that.
