Lt. Col.Purohit, who is charge-sheeted in Malegaon blast and serving jail term for the same for more than four years, is continuously getting his salary and all his allowances till date while Aejaz Ahmad Mirza, a fellow scientist at Defence Research and Development Organisation, has been terminated by the organisation recently. Reason?Mirza was picked up by the Bangalore police some six months earlier for his alleged link with terrorist organisationsand later released by the National Investigation Agency in absence of any evidence against him. This is the zenith of discrimination where a charge-sheeted person is being funded even in jail while an innocent scientist, who instead of receiving compensation on account of having been implicated in terror charges, has been debarred from his right to work.
This statement was made by Mr.Ejaz Ahmed Aslam, Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, during a press briefingin the capital on 2 March. He further added that a delegation of JIH met Member of Parliament, Mohd. Adeeb, and appealed to him to raise the issue in parliament during the ongoing Budget Session.
Taking the issue of media trial of Muslims after every bomb blast, Mr. Aslam said fascist forces are deeply rooted into media organisations and they try to preoccupy the minds of investigators so as to cover the actual perpetrators under blanket. One could imagine the power of the fascist forces when they made the Union Home Minister eat up his statement regarding Hindutva terrorism although his statement was very high on reality table. He further said the role of the police is also partisan and atrocious in most of the cases.
Commenting on the issue of political uncertainty in Bangladesh, he said what is going on in the country is a political vendetta and all the major international organisations be it Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International or International Bar Association to name a few, have condemned the sham trial of war criminals as the tribunal did meet neither the principles of justice nor is it an international tribunal as continuously being said by the ruling party. Moreover, it is neither in the interest of India nor in the interest of Dhaka that we let our neighbouring country indulge in a civil war. He also urged the President of India to find an appropriate solution to the chaos during his three-day visit to the country.
