Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed grave concern over the prolonged violence in Manipur in the Northeast, failure of the state government in preventing violence in Nuh and Gurugram districts of Haryana, cold-blooded murder of three passengers and a Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer on a running train in Maharashtra, missing of lakhs of women in the last few years and gagging of media.

The Jamaat leaders shared their views and concern at a press conference at its headquarters on August 5. The press meet was addressed by JIH Vice-presidents Prof. Mohammad Salim Engineer and Malik Moatasim Khan, National Secretary Mohammad Shafi Madani and National Secretary (Women’s Wing) Mrs. Rahmathunnissa A.

While addressing media persons, Prof. Salim Engineer said that the prolonged violence, loot of arms, atrocities against women suggest that there is total failure of law and order in the state. He appreciated the intervention of the Supreme Court regarding the violence in Manipur and demanded from the Central government to immediately take adequate steps to restore normalcy in Manipur.

JIH National Secretary Mohammad Shafi Madani made observation after his visit, saying that the violence in Gurugram and Nuh and turning a blind eye by the administration appeared that there is no government in the state. He also said that the situation in Gurugram is a failure of intelligence and coordination with the police department. There is a climate of impunity in Haryana as anti-social elements indulge in violence because they feel assured that no action would be taken against them as they enjoyed political patronage.

Malik Moatasim Khan, Vice President of Jamaat, while condemning the murder of three Muslim passengers and an RPF officer by an RPF constable inside a train said that all such incidents are happening including what has happened in other parts of the country are the result of hate, radicalisation and polarisation which is dangerous not only for Muslims but for the people of entire India and the country as well. He also demanded judicial inquiry in this incidents and adequate compensation for near relations of the victims.

Speaking to the media, National Secretary (Women’s Wing) Rahmathunnissa voiced her deep concern over more than 13 lakh children and women reported missing between 2019 and 2021, according to a study created by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).According to her,the best way to prevent sexual crimes against women is to develop a society based on morality and ethics.
