Amid growing cow vigilantism across the country, Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, President Welfare Party of India, said that a group of people in the country is trying hard to demoralise Muslims by raising different communal issues like cow vigilantism. They spread hatred, prejudices and misunderstandings in the country to create a sense of fear among the Muslims. The same thing they are doing with the Dalit community as well. Dr. Ilyas was speaking on ‘Growing Communalism: Causes and Solution’ at headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind in the Capital on 30 July.
Pointing at the communal issues, Dr. Ilyas, who is also a leader of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), said that Ram Mandir, Love Jihad, Bharat Mata Ki Jai and cow protection are some of the issues raised by communalists to target the Muslims. Earlier, communal riots were organised to demoralise Muslims but now communal issues such as cow protection are raised to target them. Nowadays big communal riots are not planned as they would stop investors to invest in India. These issues are used to keep Muslims on marginalised conditions.
Explaining the result of creation of communal issues, the learned speaker, who is also Editor of an Urdu monthly Afkar-e-Milli, further said that it aims at making Muslims politically weightless, and educationally and economically backward. Their wrong image is being created by the media by declaring them as terrorists. Their contact has been cut off the mainstream society. History has been distorted to present negative image of Muslim rulers.
Talking on the solution of this scenario, Dr. Ilyas said Muslims should practise their religion in letter and spirit.  They should stand for justice and equality in the country. They should stand with marginalised communities like Dalits and Adivasis. They should spread the message of equality among marginalised sections. Muslims should come out of the caste system that they have unconsciously learned from the Hindus. They should take interest in the issues of the society and the country. They must render their service in various departments like bureaucracy, police and media.
