In order to spread its message to people with English background, Urdu biweekly Dawat launched its blog, in the national capital on 7 April. The new blog www.dawatblogs.com has been designed to enable the internet savvy to go through 59-year old famous column Khbr-o-Nazr, editorial and other important stories.

Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari, president Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, after launching the website, said that his journalistic witting started with Dawat as his first article was published in Dawat during his early education in Madrasa. Maulana Omari also emphasised that Dawat’s column Khbr-o-Nazr is widely read. He said he also reads this column first and then other stories. The JIH chief stressed on the need to emphasise the Jamaat’s point of view in most of the stories and issues because people expect it from Dawat and urged the authorities to raise their own funds and reminded that over five-decade long paper should not be dependent on others to meet its expenses.

Parwaz Rehmani, chief editor Sehroza Dawat, before the launch of the website, explained the features, contents and classification of the new blog. Rehmani also said that the need to launch it was felt from the ongoing demand of a large section of Dawat readers and well-wishers.

Mr. A.U. Asif, Associate Editor of Chauthi Duniya, after highlighting the historical perspectives, said that the column Khbr-o-Nazr is credited to be the only column in the entire world to have been penned continuously with the same spirit for more than five decades. He also said that the column was written by Mohammed Muslim (1956-1982), Mahfuzurrahman (1982-1986), Maulana Salman Nadvi (1986-1989), and Parwaz Rehmani (Since1989 till now). He also asked the authorities not to rename the column with news & views for it may demean its impact and popularity and urged to continue with the same name to keep up with the pace of its reach and acceptance.

Mohammad Aslam, Manager, Dawat Trust told Radiance that the unique feature of this new website apart from all other contents will be relevant photographs in order to present the story in a more effective and  attractive manner.
