The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Delhi and Haryana on November 11 opened its daylong conference with the Qur’ānic message: “Establish the Religion (Deen) and Be Not Divided Therein”. In his Dars-e-Qur’ān, Maulana Inamullah Falahi said the verses 13 and 14 of Surah Shoora provide the very life mission for mankind. It is Allah the Almighty, the Creator and Master of human beings, who has given the Deen, the way of life. Referring to the various other verses of the Qur’ān, he said the Deen implies everything related to human life, including faith, trade and business, punishment for crimes, etc.

“The peace-loving citizens of the country are worried about inflation, corruption and crime. Human life is not safe; crimes against women and children are increasing. The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind believes that Islam provides solution to all human problems. This is why we call upon people to establish Islamic injunctions in our individual and collective life,” said Mr. Abdul Waheed, President JIH Delhi and Haryana, in his opening speech.

Delivering the keynote speech, Prof. Muhammad Rafat, Editor Urdu monthly Zindagi-e-Nau and Secretary JIH, said Islam means obedience to Allah without sharing His divinity and power with anyone or anything. This is the Deen of humanity, given by Allah since dawn the ages, not only to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him). In every phase of human history, this Deen has been the guiding principle for mankind. It demands action in its totality in our individual and social life.

“To establish the Deen, the Muslim Ummah has to act upon it and accelerate the Dawah work. It has to make arrangements for in-depth study of the Qur’ān, call upon people towards it and understand its message,” he suggested.

Speaking on Islam: the Religion that Ensures Human Success and Solves all Problems, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor of the Department of Education, JIH headquarters, mentioned with graphic details various problems like environmental pollution, self-employment, suicide and female foeticide, and concluded that Islam ensures success in every sphere of human life and solves all human problems as this Deen is revealed by the Creator of human beings.

Addressing on the Dawah and Contributions of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Dr. Waquar Anwar, member Advisory Council, JIH Delhi and Haryana, said establishing the Deen has three distinct aspects: to act upon the commandments of the Deen, to invite people to do so, and to remove the obstacles in the way.

The objective of JIH is Iqamat-e-Deen (Establishment of Deen). To achieve this objective, the JIH strives for the betterment of Muslim society, and makes efforts to effect unity among those who come close to it. The JIH has a separate department of Service to Society.

The Jamaat’s prime-most contribution is that it has been presenting the Deen as the way of life since its very inception. In the early times the various groups of Muslim society opposed this concept but now they have accepted Islam as the only way of life that ensures success here in this world as well as in the hereafter.

The JIH has removed the distinction between the Islamic and modern education. It has also removed the concept of personality cult by establishing an organisation based on shoora. It has also published translation of the Holy Qur’ān into Hindi, English and the various regional languages. Besides, it has also published literature on the various aspects of human life. It also enjoins its members and associates to spend in the way of Allah regularly.

Speaking on the Role of Students and Youth in the Establishment of Deen, Mr. Azharuddin, President Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), said the greatest success of man is that he realises the purpose of life. He added that as a result of the success of Islamic Movements in the Arab world, it is observed that a new world is emerging.

The youth leader called upon students and youth to come forward to play their role in shaping the society on Islamic footing, and to face the challenge of globalisation of poverty, hatred and countless other problems.

LET’S COME TOGETHER

A major highlight of the daylong programme was a symposium on “The Problems of Indian Muslims and Their Solution”. It discussed the various problems Muslims in India have been facing. The problems discussed included implicating Muslim youth in the name of counter terrorism, safeguarding Islamic identity in the plural society and educational backwardness.

“These problems are being created in a planned manner to sidetrack Muslims so that they might not grow and play their role in the reconstruction of country on healthy grounds,” alleged Dr. Er. Muhammad Salim, Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Hind while presiding over the symposium.

“All our problems, whether they are our own or created by our enemies or governments, cannot be solved unless we develop the consciousness of being the community to strive for all human beings and work together to solve all these problems,” Er. Salim suggested.

“Our ancestors have sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country; hence we have never been behind others and we should not beg for something. Neither Islam nor democracy teaches us to feel depressed and beg for some mercy,” he asserted.

Maulana Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi, Secretary-General Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadees; Dr. Sayeeduddin of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind; Dr. Abidullah Ghazi from Chicago, and Dr. Abrar Ahmad Islahi, former Editor Muslim World League Journal participated in the symposium while Mr. Parwaz Rehmani, Editor-in-Chief of Dawat Sehroza was the anchor.

“The need is to change our aptitude that we are being oppressed. We have to develop positive thinking,” said Dr. Abidullah Ghazi.

Dr. Abrar Ahmad Islahi suggested that we should devise a syllabus that can create good, pro-active citizens who can contribute to the reconstruction of society.

Dr. Sayeeduddin suggested that Muslim leaders should come together to solve their problems. Other speakers also shared the view.

PUBLIC ADDRESS

The third session of the conference was a public address by Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari, renowned Islamic scholar, author of over 30 books and Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

“Every conscious person has an objective of life before him; similarly, nations too have their objectives. And the objectives of nations are devised by their leaders. But the case with Muslim Ummah is different. The objective for the Muslim Ummah has been revealed by Allah the Exalted. It is enshrined in the Qur’ānic term of ukhrijat lil naas (raised for human beings). The term ukhrijat lil naas implies that Muslims have to strive for the good of entire humanity; they have to invite people to virtues and forbid them from evils,” Maulana Omari while addressing the audience on “The Objective Before Muslim Ummah”.

Allah the Almighty asked Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) to be steadfast on forgiveness and invite people to all that stands for good; and Islam is all for virtues and peace. This divine command includes the Dawah work, he added.

The Jamaat chief called upon the audience to shape their lives in accordance with the commandments given in the Qur’ān and Sunnah.
