Hindutva and capitalism pose threats and challenges to the foundations of our country, said Syed Sadatullah Hussaini, Assistant Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind while inaugurating the Alappuzha District Conference at Vaduthala last week. He called upon the Muslim community to represent Islam with its justness and fairness.

“Demonetisation and other financial policies have pushed the country back. India ranks second among the countries where economic disparity among the poor and the rich is acute. In 2000, one per cent of the country possessed 36% of the wealth of the country. In 2014, wealth at the hands of the one per cent grew up to 49% and in 2017 it rose to 60% of the total wealth. More than half of the population is living under poverty and distress. Budget proposals are meant for the rich, exclusively. Life for the poor has become more unbearable,” said the JIH leader.

“Islam gives equal importance to generation and equitable distribution of wealth,” he added.

He further said that the Sangh Parivar has once again embarked upon ‘Ram Mandir’ issue in the wake of Uttar Pradesh elections. This is a conspicuous move to create rift and division among the people. The state which has hauled media and social media has robbed the future of Adivasis, women and other marginalised sections of the society.

Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala Amir M I Abdul Azeez presided over the function. A.M. Arif, MLA, announced the service project launched as part of the District Conference.

Former National Assistant Amir Prof. K.A. Siddiq Hassan delivered the keynote address.

Kerala Assistant Amir VT Abdulla Koya Thangal, Secretary Shihab Pookkottur, Women’s wing state committee member K.T. Nasima, Solidarity State Secretary Samad Kunnakavu, SIO national president Nahas Mala, GIO state committee member U. Abida, Ithihadul Ulam General Secretary K.M. Ashraf, Jamaate Islami district secretary Navas Jamal, Jamal Panayikkulam and others also addressed the gathering.

A video message of Dr. Ali Muhyuddin Quradagi, Secretary General of International Union of Muslim scholars was screened in the conference.

Kodikkunnil Suresh MP, KC Venugopal MP and others also graced the conference.
