The Human Welfare Foundation (HWF), social service wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, is giving Iftar Kits to more than 3,000 poor Muslim families in Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Delhi during this holy month of Ramadhan. Salimullah Khan, National Coordinator of HWF, said in a press statement on August 19 that HWF distributed Iftar Kits to poor Muslim families during last Ramadhan also. After experiencing the success last year, the Foundation made some changes in Iftar Kits by adding more weights to the ingredients. During this Ramadhan the Iftar kit ingredients will be for one month which will cost about `1500.

Apart from this, the Foundation also organised Iftar Party during last Ramadhan at Abul Fazl Enclave, New Delhi in which it invited poor Muslim fasting people, including rickshaw pullers. The Foundation also organised Iftar Kit party in various places of the states during last Ramadhan. The aim of the Foundation is to provide maximum support and benefit for poor Muslim families so that they can fast and break Iftar like common people rather than fasting and breaking Iftar without proper meals and Iftar. It is the duty of one Muslim to help other Muslims who are in need.

The purpose of HWF is to involve the community in supporting poor Muslim families in need during this holy month of Ramadhan. HWF wants to create outlets for people to “do good” during this month. HWF also hopes that Iftar kit distribution will also create awareness on poverty issues among the general masses.

The ingredients of each Iftar Kit consist of 1. Rice/Wheat Flour 20 Kgs; 2. Sugar 3 Kgs; 3. Cooking Oil 2 Kgs; 4. Besan (Gram Flour) 2 Kgs; 5. Dal (Pulses) 2 Kgs; 6. Salt 1 Kg; 7. Milk Powder 1 Kg; 8. Tea Leaves ½ Kg; and 9. Dates 2 Kgs.
