Human Welfare Foundation (HWF) New Delhi awarded Rs. 4,40,000 to the 30 students who had been selected on the basis of interview, at a scholarship distribution programme held in Aligarh on 25 December. The programme commenced with recitation of the Qur’ān.
Earlier they distributed Rs. 52,00,000 among 500 students across the country this year.
In his inaugural address, Tanveer Ahmad, Co-coordinator, HWF, UP (West) welcomed the participants and guests and said that the Foundation in association with 50 other NGOs provides scholarships for poor and marginalised students from the fields of social sciences and humanities in 20 states. Along with this, the Foundation is working for health, poverty alleviation, women’s rights, natural calamity, and social development. It also provides houses for those who are homeless.
Zahoor Ahmad, In-charge Scholarship, HWF, said that the Foundation is trying to do its level best to ensure empowerment of Muslims in the field of higher education. This scholarship distribution programme is part of this project.
Speaking on “the Challenges of Muslim Students in the Way of Modern Education”, Abdullah Azzam, President, AMUSU, said that the greatest challenge of Muslim students is lack of proper guidance. “In this case, parents along with students should wake up to ensure quality education for their wards. Modern education is not limited to only science and computer education but means education of all subjects that are beneficial. Islam does not prohibit from acquiring any type of education that can prove beneficial to human beings and make students self-confident,” he stressed.
The AMUSU leader also called upon the students to make tireless strivings to prove man as the best of creation as Allah the Exalted has termed him.
Mr. Rifaquat Ali drew the attention of the students towards the importance of receiving higher education.
Addressing the students, Nazeer-ul-Hasan Falahi, Zonal president, SIO UP (West) said that they should receive education with zeal and enthusiasm and make good use of the scholarship given by HWF. “You should make firm determination to struggle for development of the society and to help the Foundation in future,” he urged.
