The Maharashtra chapter of Islamic Information Centre (IIC) was inaugurated at Mira Road by the President of JIH Maharashtra, Mr. Taufiq Aslam Khan and Justice (retd) Hosbet Suresh on 15 May. IIC Maharashtra is a Dawah endeavour which includes a tri-lingual Dawah Call Centre, an Audio-visual auditorium, a well-equipped traditional and digital library and Dawah websites in Marathi (www.islamdarshan.org) and English (www.islamvision.org). The Centre would cater to all our countrymen from Maharashtra who would like to know anything about Islam or would like to have their misconceptions about Islam cleared.
Addressing the inaugural function, Chief Guest Justice Hosbet emphasised the dire need of more such centres to bring about communal harmony among fellow citizens.
The Director of IIC, Mr. Tareeq Munir averred that technology should be rightfully harnessed to widen our reach among the masses. With the launch of IIC two years back in Hyderabad, it became possible for people to enquire about Islam at leisure, without having to go anywhere. All Indians were provided with the convenience of dialling the toll-free number 18002000787 and speak at length about Islam with its well trained staff. Now, with more branches opening up in various states, it has become possible for IIC executives to converse with their state populace in their respective regional languages, thus expanding the scope of the Centre. At present, callers can choose from among six major languages- English, Hindi, Telegu, Malayalam, Kannad and Marathi. Tamil would be made available soon followed by Gujarati, Bengali and Punjabi inshaAllah.
While expounding the other activities of IIC here, Mr. Imtiyaz Shaikh, Secretary Dawah, JIH Maharashtra said that guests visiting the IIC Maharashtra office would be acquainted with the message of Islam at its state-of-the-art audio-visual auditorium. The Centre would also serve as a Dawah Interaction Centre where interested persons can personally visit the Centre and engage in one-to-one sessions with its executives.
Mr. Taufiq Aslam Khan stressed the need to convey the universal message of Islam by all possible means so as to pull out humanity from the abyss of ignorance and introduce them to the light of Allah’s mercy, thus saving them from eternal perdition.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks extended by the President of JIH Mumbai Metro, Muhammad Abdul Qadeer and a solemn prayer beseeching Allah to accept the efforts of His servants in His way.
