The only purpose for which the Muslim community has been raised is Dawah or saving the fellow brethren from falling into the fire of the Hell. But, to our sorrow and grief, the members of the community do not pay as much heed to this divinely ordained duty as is required. Bukhari, Muslim and other books of hadith literature have created separate chapters on Namaz, Fasting, Trading, etc. but how they missed creating a separate chapter on the Importance of Dawah, which is the primary duty of every individual Muslim, is strange. These views were expressed by Maulana Mohammad Farooq Khan while speaking on the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of Islami Academy in the national capital on 1 September.

Further throwing light on the issue, the learned speaker, who is a renowned scholar, author of many books on Islam and translator of the Holy Qur’ān into the Hindi language, said narrating a story that people are wandering here and there in search of truth but no one is there to help them find the right path. The speaker added that blanketing knowledge has been considered an offence in Islam.

Addressing the audience, Dr. Hasan Raza, Director of the Academy, said the aim of the institution is to pour the spirit of Islamic Dawah into the hearts of students. He urged the students not to allow any laxity in their commitment level as the challenges they have to meet later are very big and they are the only ray of hope for the community.

Islami Academy is an adapted version of Darsgah-e-Islami, Rampur which was started by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind decades ago. After Rampur, its former Director Dr Abdul Haq Ansari re-established it as Islamic Research and Guidance Centre (IRCG) at Aligarh; it was later shifted to New Delhi as Islami Academy before once again it was taken to Aligarh. Now, finally it has been started afresh in New Delhi under the directorship of Dr. Hasan Raza.

It aims at producing resource persons to carry on Islamic legacy in the dazzling light of this new world order. The Academy has granted admission to 16 students of different backgrounds for this session starting from 1 September. The Academy will provide the students with their food and lodging for the entire period of course.
