Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Ameer Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari launched the organisation’s website afresh by clicking its address www.jamaateislamihind.org amidst a large gathering at its headquarters in the capital on December 3.
This web portal is not new; it was first inaugurated about five years ago. Then, what does this fresh launch of it mean? There is a world of difference between its earlier version and present updated one.
Introducing the salient characteristics of the website, Er. Syed Saadatullah Hussaini, Member of Jamaat’s Central Advisory Council, said the Jamaat website will now present not only the Jamaat activities at the headquarters but in different zones in the country as well as Jamaat’s stand on the various socio-political developments besides its policy, programme, constitution, organisational structure, central secretariat and state leadership.
The new website has been designed by a team of young and enthusiastic software engineers and professionals, including Syed Saadatullah Hussaini, Irfan Ahmad, and Mohammad Faisal. The chairman of the website committee is Naib Ameer of the organisation Prof. K.A. Siddique Hasan.
The new website has the option of weekly chat with some important Islamic scholar from India or abroad on specified day and time as well as a discussion forum; but these features are yet to be activated.
In his presidential address, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri said, “We do need very effective and influential communication sources to convey our message to the modern world. I believe that the new website will play a significant role in communicating the ideology of the organisation as it has dedicated itself to the various fields of social, moral, economical, educational and cultural values of human society.”
Speaking as Chief Guest, eminent Islamic economist and King Faisal Award winner Dr. M. Nejatullah Siddiqi suggested to the organisers to make the website more and more multi-dimensional and interactive and allow the view of ‘others’ as well to find place on the website. Only then the utility of the website can be realised; for the addressees, the visitors of the site in this case, have become more empowered than they were earlier.
The learned scholar also advised those responsible for the maintenance of the website not to be content with the present upgraded version. “Time is fleeting and technological advancements are taking place every day. So you have to update it regularly.”
Former Jamaat Ameer Dr. Abdul Haq Ansari also expressed his pleasure on the updated edition of the website and advised the organisers to express their views on the day-to-day developments more promptly.
Earlier, while welcoming the audience, the organisation’s Secretary-General Nusrat Ali said as the Jamaat is an ideological organisation they would make use of every source of communication available today, and thus they could not ignore the importance of website.
