Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, at its monthly press briefing on 6 September at its headquarters, announced to set up Dharmik Morcha (religious front) at state and national levels in order to counter divisive and hate campaign aimed at communal polarisation. The Dharmik Morcha will comprise religious leaders from different religious communities.
Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, while addressing the meet, said that the Jamaat has decided to set up Dharmik Morcha alongside Sadbhavana Manch being established in its all 1200 units across India. The Sadbhavana Manch will comprise renowned persons including social and human rights activists of the locality while the Dharmik Morcha will have only religious leaders. He also expressed his satisfaction on the recently concluded 15-day successful nationwide Peace and Humanity campaign and was pleased to inform the press persons about the overwhelming response of the people from all walks of life and from all faiths.
Mohammad Salim Engineer, Secretary General of the Jamaat, said that about 25 lakh people were directly reached through more than 10,000 public events, including conferences, press briefing and corner meetings. Through the social media platforms of Jamaat, around 15 crore people were reached.
Jamaat’s Vice President Nusrat Ali had recently led a delegation to Nuh district in Haryana where last month, one Muslim couple was brutally killed and two young girls were gang-raped allegedly by robbers.
Jamaat’s vice president, while addressing the monthly press meet, said it seemed the crime was planned to provoke Muslims to violence, but the local Muslims showing wisdom controlled the situation. The Jamaat delegation had visited the injured people at the hospital, attended a Mahapanchayat of Mewati Muslims and also visited the homes of the affected people. Jamaat leaders assured all help to the victims.
