Jathedar Avtar Singh, President Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in a statement issued recently expressed concern over the statement made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat that all people living in India are Hindus. He condemned it in the strongest possible terms, saying that such a statement will harm the unity and the integrity of the country.
Jathedar Singh also said that India is a multi-lingual and multi-religious country where Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians live together. They have their respective cultures and traditions and the Constitution of India allows them to live as per their religions and customs. People living in a country can be known as per their citizenship and nationality and not by a particular religion and belief. By insulting minorities and people belonging to other religions, the country cannot fulfill the dreams and goals of development and prosperity. This is not the first time that Mohan Bhagwat has made such a divisive and controversial statement.
President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has also said that such statements have hurt the sentiments of the religious minorities and it is not in the interest of the country. He has strongly asked the Government of India to take legal action against Mohan Bhagwat for trying to disrupt peace, unity and integrity of the country.
