Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari expressed his utter surprise and grave concern over a verdict pronounced by a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court, which had declared pre-marital sex and/or live-in relationships as legal.
In a statement issued on March 24, the JIH leader drew the attention of the Apex Court when he wondered, “If the live-in relationship is not considered a crime and sin, what will be the relevance of the words like ‘rape’ and ‘sexual assault’ in society, and how will it be possible to save the country from falling into the abyss of moral anarchy?”
