Al-Shifa Multi Speciality Hospital in the capital scaled new heights in terms of social welfare when its newly renovated first floor equipped with state of the art technology was inaugurated by Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, in the national capital on 5 June.

The objective of this hospital is only to serve people because it is not a profit making venture. Al-Shifa since its inception in 2011 has lived up to the expectation of the people and the newly renovated first floor with additional 50 beds with best available resources is indeed a step forward in the field of social services. It is certainly on the line to fulfil the commitments of Human Welfare Trust in its approach towards promoting humanity with affordable healthcare to all.

Maulana Omari, after inaugurating the first floor of the hospital, said the purpose of this hospital is not to make profit but it is aimed at social service and human care. While highlighting the teachings of Islam towards social service, he reminded the audience that the establishment of this hospital is also based on the teachings of Islam with respect to social welfare. He also emphasised that this aspect of Islam towards human welfare should be made known to one and all.

In a very short span of time the hospital has successfully cured 75000 patients including 20000 poor patients and that too with the same experts and same facilities in place. In its further expansion plan, the ground floor will be prepared exclusively for women and children. Mohammad Jafar, Chairman Hospital Management Committee and Vice President of Human Welfare Trust, expressed happiness on the progress made and said that this initiative is the way forward in fulfilling the objectives of Human Welfare Trust aimed at providing education and healthcare. He also welcomed suggestions and criticism that can help the management committee to serve better and provide better facilities.

The hospital authorities have sought cooperation from people, well wishers and media fraternity to help the hospital develop vertically and horizontally to compete with the best in all aspects in order to satisfy the people of the area. Brig. (Retd.) Zafar Ali, Director, Ops. & Admin., Al-Shifa Hospital, while addressing press meet on 4 June, asked the media fraternity to help them in their endeavour to develop the hospital in order to provide quality service with better facilities at an affordable price. He also urged the media to promote its achievements and its commitments towards providing better healthcare and its efforts towards social service.

Dr. Raoof A Khan, Medical Superintendent, Al-Shifa, while replying to a question, said the hospital despite all constraints has successfully done three total joint hip replacements and two other replacements will be done next week which in itself is remarkable achievement for a hospital like this. Dr Raoof also said that in terms of infrastructure Al-Shifa is the best in the entire area and second to none in terms of expertise and service. He also said that ICU with 14-bed facility is a noticeable achievement because ICU facility in the nearby hospital falls short and most of the time it remains occupied.  Kamarudheen A P, Director, Al-Shifa, while elaborating the expansion plan, said that in the next 10 years, efforts would be made to have all other facilities which are not available today.

In the first floor which was inaugurated there are 14 beds in the ICU, 2 modular operation theatres, male  and female general wards, private ward, semi private ward, deluxe ward equipped with latest machines and technology. The charges are 30 per cent less as compared to best available hospitals. Along with these facilities CT scan machine facility is also there. DrMFarooq, Vice Chairman, Hospital Management Committee, presented the vote of thanks.
