JIH Delegation Meets Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

A high level delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind led by its President Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omeri met the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal. The delegation apprised the CM of the problems faced by the citizens of Delhi and especially those encountered by Muslims of Delhi.

A high level delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind led by its President Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omeri met the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal. The delegation apprised the CM of the problems faced by the citizens of Delhi and especially those encountered by Muslims of Delhi. Delhi Waqf Board Chairman and AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was also present on the occasion.
Maulana Omeri congratulated the CM for the success of Odd-Even traffic scheme, for his efforts to solve the problem of water and electricity and his fight against corruption. The delegation reminded Kejriwal that Muslim residents of Delhi still lack basic civic amenities. There is no provision for sanitation and other basic services. A lot of vacancies for teachers in Urdu schools are waiting to be filled. The issue of Awqaf properties also needs urgent attention. The CM of Delhi was told to make efforts for removing the illegal possession of Waqf properties by various individuals and government bodies. The Jamaat chief requested Kejriwal to set an example for others to emulate regarding government responsibility towards Waqf properties. There are 123 Waqf properties in Delhi which were promised to be handed over by the UPA government to Muslims. This issue should be taken up as a priority issue by the Delhi government of Arvind Kejriwal.
Maulana Omeri also told the CM that the decision by the Delhi government to change the name of Aurangzeb Road was incorrect. The JIH Ameer advised Delhi CM to introduce prohibition on consuming alcohol in Delhi as done by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.
The Delhi CM assured the delegation that he will support any campaign against alcohol and his government will immediately set up schools and hospitals upon getting suitable land as his party and government accords high priority to education and healthcare.
The JIH delegation comprised Ameer-e-Jamaat, Secretary General Mohammad Salim Engineer, Deputy Presidents Nusrat Ali and Syed Saadatullah Husseini, Secretary Mohammad Ahmed, Dr. Qasim Rasool Ilyas and Assistant Secretary Athar Karim Qidwai.
