Professor Gayasuddin Shaikh, father of Arshad Shaikh, Media In-charge of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, breathed his last in his native city Pune on April 27 following brief illness. He was 78.
Professor Gayasuddin Shaikh taught at Agricultural College, Pune University. Member of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind from Pune, Gayasuddin Shaikh was Ex-Vice President of Movement for Peace and Justice, Maharashtra, and former Registrar at Vasantdada Sugar Institute Pune. He was associated with various socio-religious NGOs in Pune.
Professor Gayasuddin Shaikh left behind him three sons, two of whom are in Canada.
