Relief work on large scale as Govt’s support too meagre
Medics, advocates teams rendering services in relief camps
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has spent Rs. 12 lakh as immediate aid through its ongoing relief camps in the affected areas for providing urgent aid and relief for hundreds of thousands of Assam riots victims till date. Relief work is going on continuously. As humanitarian crisis of food, drinking water, shelter and health of riot-victims is looming large while government’s provision is too meagre to cope with it, Jamaat has decided to do relief work on a large scale. Jamaat is also providing medical and legal aid by forming various doctors’ and advocates’ teams for victims.
Jamaat’s Secretary General Mr. Nusrat Ali said, in a press statement issued on August 9, that Jamaat has decided to execute relief and rehabilitation work on a large scale directly from its headquarters. Mr. Mohammed Shafi Madani, Jamaat’s all India secretary for social service, has been appointed as the in-charge of relief work in Assam. Mr. Madani visited Assam’s riots-affected areas and relief camps and will soon reach there once again to organise and accelerate relief work. Mr. Madani has extensive experience of executing relief work among the victims during Gujarat earthquake and 2002 Gujarat riots.
Now Jamaat once again appeals to the kind and benevolent persons to extend their helping hands wholeheartedly to help alleviate the sufferings of their oppressed brothers in Assam. Mr. Shafi Madani may be contacted on his mobile number 09818996951.
