Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed concern over attempts being made covertly or overtly to saffronise education under the guise of educational reform. It asked the government not to tarnish the image of the minority community and any attempt to reform education must be made with facts and truth and not with fiction. JIH also urged the world community to take Israel to International Court for Accountability and Justice in order to compel Israel to stop barbaric and inhuman assault on the people of Gaza.
“We do agree that there should be value education but values should not be derived only from one religion and organisation in order to highlight the values of one particular community, culture and religion. It should not be done to tarnish the image of other communities. We are also in favour of religious education but are against introduction of any particular religious education and culture. There are many shortcomings in the present educational system and efforts should be made to reform education, keeping in mind the secular ethos and composite culture of our country rather than eulogising a particular religion or people from a particular faith.” These views were expressed by Nusrat Ali, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, at a press conference in the national capital, on 2 August.
During the press meet, the Jamaat expressed concern over Dinanath Batra’s so-called non-governmental commission for Indianisation of education because he is a known senior member and pracharak of RSS and therefore it is well known as to what he would do for the Indianisation of education.
Nusrat Ali also said that the statements made before and after the election, the way how riots are orchestrated and the way how divisive and hatred languages are being used or attempts being made to vitiate communal harmony, or to enthuse hatred and enmity between communities and groups suggest that these groups even if they are not aided and abetted by the government are confident enough that the government will not go against them and nobody can harm them. It seems likely because the government is silent on all these issues. And unless and until there is peace, the dream of development cannot be fulfilled and achieved.
The Jamaat also urged the Government of India to review its approach to the Palestine-Israel conflict on purely humanitarian ground, allow debate on the issue in Parliament and condemn Israel in letter and spirit for its brazen attack on Gaza and asked the international community to take Israel to International Court for accountability and justice. Nusrat Ali, while replying to a question, said that India must not compromise on its principle on the policy of Palestine-Israel conflict for the sake of economic or strategic interest because these interests can also be fulfilled by not joining hands with Israel.
