The Mira Road chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) 28 December 2014 held a grand public address on ‘Ao Sath Chale’ near Ibraheem Masjid, Mira Road, Mumbai to encourage all Muslims to come together and convey the pristine message of Islam to all our fellow countrymen.
The programme commenced with an enchanting recitation of the Holy Qur’ān (Ale Imran 102-109) by Syed Hasan, wherein Allah has instructed believers to unite and refrain from breaking up into sects, while inviting people towards good and forbidding evil.
The compere, Syed Sharif, then invited the President of JIH-Mira Road, Muhammad Abdul Qadeer to the lectern to deliver the introductory address. Mr. Abdul Qadeer reminded the people that man has been appointed vicegerent by Allah and it is his duty to act on His behalf on earth. A believer is supposed to invite all human beings to the worship and obedience of the One True God, said he. Just like our ancestors had been fortunate enough to have had met someone who invited them to Islam, so also, it is now our turn to invite others as well.
The lectern was then graced by the young and dynamic speaker, Syed Sohail Ameer, who had come down all the way from Jalgaon to speak on the importance of unity in the Muslim community. He emphasised the fact that unity is essential to the progress and reformation of Muslims and that we should not allow our mutual differences to interfere with the common cause of promoting Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) made it amply clear in his Farewell Address that all Muslims are brothers unto one another and that differences of race, colour or class have no standing in Islam, where everyone is judged only on the basis of his or her piety. He also reminded the audience about the Prophet’s formula for mutual goodwill that we greet each other abundantly and averred that the benchmark of our love for the Prophet lies not in holding colourful rallies, but in following him in letter and spirit.
Mr. Abdus Sami, Secretary Dawah, JIH Maharashtra, in his presidential address, said that inviting people towards Islam is an obligation upon each and every Muslim. The Prophet’s companions spread to all parts of the world, including Malabar, India to convey Allah’s message to humanity. JIH Maharashtra is also gearing up for a massive Dawah campaign, Islam For All, to be run from 9 to 18 January to reach out to as many as three crore countrymen, conveying to them the teachings of Islam and clearing any and every misconception that they may harbour in their hearts about this divine way of life. He sought the active participation of all Muslims in this noble campaign and in all Dawah activities hereafter.
The audience of well over a thousand people raised their hands in supplication to Allah, beseeching the much required strength and guidance to fulfil the responsibilities He has entrusted us with and begged for His good pleasure, mercy and forgiveness.
Earlier in the day, a meeting with Mira Road’s Ulema and Imams of Mosques was arranged over lunch, wherein Mr. Abdus Sami appealed to the learned scholars of Islam to take up the mantle of enthusing the spirit of Dawah among the believers of Mira Road in all earnest and jotted down their valuable suggestions related to the upcoming campaign – Islam For All.
