It is the responsibility of the Ulema to protect people from falling into the hell. People can get their problems solved only by following in letter and spirit the path laid down by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) some fourteen hundred years and a half ago. This statement was made by Maulana Muhammad Rafeeque Qasmi, Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. He was addressing Islamic scholars assembled during the Ulema Conference jointly organised by Rajasthan Muslim Forum and JIH Rajasthan at Muslim Musafirkhana in Jaipur on 12 January.
Maulana Qasmi, in his address, said that the system of life that was given to the people by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) was not only to make them feel the importance of being human but was also aimed at helping them lead the complete human life with dignity. He reminded the audience that all human beings are sons of Adam and thus all are equal. The Blessed Prophet established a model society where all were equal and enjoyed equal rights. Timely, prompt and free justice was available. The State was responsible for the basic needs of the people. The economic system in place provided employment; individuals were sole owners of their income and the State did not charge any kind of tax on their income. Interest was not only discouraged but was also declared completely forbidden.
This system gives respect to woman, and the dignity and right she deserves. It entitles her to claim her share of inheritance in property of her husband and father. It gives her right to education and employment and allows her to keep her property separate. In the Arab world when the girl child was buried alive, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) not only gave her the right to live but also informed the world about the wrath of Allah for killing of the girl child.
The Prophet put a bolt on all the ways wherefrom corruption could have gained roots; it ultimately paved the way for a corruption-free system. He discouraged and stopped social evils like alcohol, gambling, nudity and many more evil practices from the society. Maulana said all these problems are still there in our society and we can weed them out in the way the Prophet did.
Maulana Qasmi urged the religious scholars to inform and educate people about the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) and follow his guidelines to solve their problems no matter how big or small. The Ulema will have to reply in the Day of Judgement what they did when people were doing wrong.
Maulana Sarfaraz Ahmed Falahi, convener of Rajasthan Ulema Forum, said that in troubled times it is only Ulema that help the people and the society to come out of it.
