Renowned Islamic Scholar Maulana Aamir Rashadi’s son has been picked up by the ATS at Nagpur Railway station. The 22 year old Financial Analyst at Wipro has been charged under the Arms Act. SAAD BIN ZIA speaks to Maulana Rashadi to know the details of the incident. He is spearheading the campaign in September 19 fake Batla House encounter sees it as a measure to quell his voice.
In yet another incident of harassment of Muslims by the ATS Talha Aamir son of renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Aamir Mujeeb Rashadi Madani has been picked up by the sleuths of ATS on the December 20 in connection with the Delhi serial blasts. The 22 years old Financial Analyst at Wipro has been sent to police custody till 3 January. When contacted over telephone Maulana Rashadi confirmed the report. He expressed shock over the arrest of his son who also pursuing an MBA from Symbiosis and suspected that he might be framed in serious crimes by the ATS. Giving details of the incident Maulana Rashadi told, “On his way back to Hyderabad from home by Patna-Secunderabad Express on 20 December my elder son Talha Aamir and his friends got down at Nagpur Railway Station to take dinner. Soon afterwards some persons in plain clothes nabbed my son. When his friends protested the men said they were from the ATS. On 22 at 12:06 am I received a call from the ATS that charges have been framed against my son. Azamgarh Superintend of Policed told me that my son has been arrested under the Arms Act”
When asked whether any FIR has been lodged Maulana Rashadi informed, “I went to the police station to lodge the FIR but the police refused to register the FIR”. Replying to question regarding informing the local administration about the incident Maulana Rashadi added, “We have, however, sent our complaint to the administration through E-mail”. He further mentioned that there were huge public protests going on in Azamgarh. Maualana Rashadi stated, “My son was allowed to speak only briefly to me yesterday morning. In his short conversation my son appealed me not to protest against his arrest otherwise he would have to face dire consequences. I received a similar phone call later as well”. “Where is Talha? No one knows the whereabouts of Talha? And who has kidnapped Talha? These and similar questions are still need to be answered”, said Maulana Rashadi.
Mualana Aamir Rashadi Madani is a well known Islamic scholar and Nazim (Administrator) of the famous Islamic Seminary of Azamgarh Jamiatur Rashad. He is also the Convener of Ulema Council of Uttar Pradesh. He is spearheading a campaign against the police atrocities on the Muslim community of Azamgarh in the aftermath of September 19 Batla House encounter in which two innocent youths belonging to Azamgarh were killed by the Delhi Police on charges of terrorism. Apart from this he is also campaigning against Yogi Aditya Nath and Hindutva forces in the country that are spoiling the communal harmony of the country. Maulana Rashadi asserted, “I am not going to be stopped by such intimidating tactics even I have to sacrifice all of my sons for this noble cause. I shall continue to fight against injustice”.
Meanwhile, in the native place of Talha Aamir Azamgarh massive protests are continuing against his arrests. Shops and other business establishments remained closed. The protester blocked the roads. Students of Shibli National College took out a protest march. The police used lahticharge to disperse the protestors. Police tried to arrest the leader of National Loktantrik Party and native of Sanjarpur village Mr. Tariq Shafiq, however, owing to public pressure the police could not do so. Maulana Tahir Madani while addressing a protest rally at Bilariaganj claimed that Talha was arrested to quell the voice of Ulema Council but we will the stir will continue.
