The military coup in Egypt is the murder of democracy and is the result of external as well as internal conspiracies of anti-democracy and anti-Islam people so as to hold the Muslim world’s bridle in their hands and utilise their resources. President Morsi, during his term consisting of around one year, has taken the country to an unbelievable height. His dedication to and adoration of the country has yielded results in every field. The views were expressed by the Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Syed Jalaluddin Umari, during a press briefing at the headquarters of JIH in the national capital on 6 July.
The Ameer further added that the recent development in Egypt is disappointing and pitiable but not surprising at all as the attempts had been made to build up a hostile situation against the Morsi government since the day government was formed under his presidency. He appealed to the people of Egypt to think whether a democratically elected government is better or a military overrule which is entirely against the nitty-gritty of the democratic and civilised society. Adding, the citizens of the country should also mull over if the military’s duty is to rule the country and take interest in the internal political issues or to protect its borders from intruders.
A wide range of issues ranging from military coup in Egypt to US snooping and from flood devastation in Uttarakhand to protection of Waqf properties and from the judgment of Madras High Court on live-in relationship to CBI probe into Ishrat Jahan fake encounter to devaluation of rupees were raised during the meet and the Jamaat leaders very smartly answered each and every question in a scholarly manner. Clearing its stand on live-in relationship, which is already known to all, the Ameer said the Jamaat is dead against all types of sexual indulgence outside marriage whether it be with or without consent. According to the Jamaat, it destroys the family system and violates the rights of women and the children born to the partners.
The Ameer appreciated the Central Bureau of Investigation for bringing to the fore the truth about fake encounter of Ishrat and her friends in 2004 and demanded from the union government to order a fresh probe into all recent encounters in the country. Knowingly, the CBI has mirrored the findings of the magisterial enquiry and the Special Investigation Team which had claimed in their respective reports that the encounter of Ishrat and her friends was a faked one.
Commenting on the issue of upcoming Waqf Amendment Bill 2010, Maulana Umari, who is also a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, stated that the bill must incorporate the recovery of illegally occupied Waqf properties and allowing Namaz in all the mosques under the control of Archaeological Survey of India.
The Jamaat also voiced concern over the devaluation of rupees in international market and suggested the government to concentrate on economic fundamentals instead of relying on foreign investors as they are more interested in their short term monetary gains. The Jamaat urged as well to take as alternative the Interest-Free Ethical Economic System and save the country from another East India Company.
