A joint delegation of Muslim organisations in Rajasthan led by Qari Moinuddin of Rajasthan Muslim Forum paid a visit to Ajmer to take stock of the situation prevailing over there after the October 11 blasts in the Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s Dargah.
The delegation has demanded CBI investigation into the blast.
While calling upon the citizens to maintain peace and communal harmony in the State, the delegation expressed its concern over the bomb blast, saying that it was really sad that the terror outfits had intentionally targeted the revered shrine, which was a symbol of communal harmony and brotherhood in this democratic country. The delegation said it was an inhuman act, which has been carried out by some anti-social elements to communalise the situation.
“These anti-social elements have targeted the holy shrine in the month of Ramadhan and around the Eid festival to terrorise the Muslim minority in the country. This only reveals that they only wanted to disturb the congenial and peaceful environment prevailing in the State,” the delegation said.
While expressing their solidarity with the bereaved families of the victims as well as the injured, the delegation also expressed its concern over the state machinery’s investigation into the blast.
“Had the State government taken seriously the advice of the Central government earlier that security arrangement should be made properly in all the holy places, the blast at the sacred shrine could have been prevented,” the delegation accused.
Criticising the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil for his negligence and irresponsible statement that he was busy paying attention to the Gujjar controversy, the delegation team also held the Union Home Ministry responsible for the incident.
“The statement which mentioned that the bomb blast was the handiwork of some Muslims was in fact aimed at tarnishing the image of the Muslim community,” the delegation said.
The delegation also blamed the investigative agencies by saying that our agencies always try to blame Muslims and the foreign hand in such incidents. “This process could encourage the extremists who run the terror network in the country,” the delegation said.
Asking the State government to respect its commitment of paying five lakhs compensation to the deceased families, the team also demanded financial assistance for those injured in the blast.
The delegation further advised the government to treat honestly with innocent people while carrying out its investigation work; however the real culprits behind the terror incidents should not be left unpunished. It also requested the government to deploy the security personnel around the holy shrine of Ajmer.
The delegation demanded from the government to provide special security cover for religious places and shrines including Ajmer Dargah so that repetition of such terror incidents may be prevented.
The delegation included Engineer Muhammad Salim, State President of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind; State Secretary Mohd Nazimuddin; Mohd Hussain, former State President of SIO; Engineer Arif Ali and other doctors and academicians.
