Underlining the need for peace and humanity in the country, Dr. SQR Ilyas, president Welfare Party of Indian, said that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited various countries to invite investments in the country. But investment and development are not possible unless we have peace and humanity. Peace is the basic foundation of development.
Dr. Ilyas also said that Hindus and Muslims should fight in a united manner against poverty, unemployment and other problems but not against each other. He was addressing a public gathering organised by Zakir Nagar Unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Delhi at Zakir Nagar, New Delhi on 4 September. The programme was part of Jamaat’s 15-day countrywide Peace and Humanity.

Presiding over the gathering, Dr. Jagdeep S. Chhokar, former Professor, Dean and Director Incharge of IIM Ahmedabad, criticised the politicians and religious leaders who used religion to divide people. He said there is a need for check and balance in power so that politicians cannot do whatever they wish.

The public gathering was also addressed by Mr. Asif Iqbal, Media Incharge of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Delhi & Haryana and Asst. Zonal Convenor of Jamaat’s Peace & Humanity campaign. He said the divide and rule policy which was used by the colonial British government is being used now by some politicians in the country.
