Muslim Personal Law Awareness Campaign is not reactionary but a positive campaign focused on educating Muslims and non-Muslim brethren and making them aware of all aspects of personal laws by clearing the misconception piled up since ages,” said Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Muhammad Salim Engineer while introducing Jamaat’s ongoing Muslim Personal Law Awareness Campaign at a public meet organised by JIH at its headquarters on 22 April.

During the programme, a few video clips were displayed wherein noted Islamic scholars from various organisations like Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadvi, President All India Muslim Personal Law Board; Maulana Mohammed Wali Rehmani, General Secretary of the Board; Maulana Arshad Madani, Maulana Mahmood Madani, Maulana Khalid Firangi Mahali, Maulana Kalbe Sadiq and Maulana Kalbe Jawad hailed the campaign and lauded the efforts of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and expressed their solidarity and support for the campaign.

The JIH Secretary General also opined that this campaign should not only become a campaign of the Jamaat but it should become a campaign of the entire Millat and the kind of overwhelming support the campaign is getting from across India it is expected that it will become the campaign of the Millat. He also informed the audience that when this campaign was visualised a few months ago we were in doubt about its relevance but now in the given atmosphere and the debate going on it has become the need of the hour.

He further added: If we had adopted and practised our personal laws pragmatically then the perception of all those who are speaking against our personal laws would have been entirely different. It is not only enough to make people aware but they should also be encouraged and asked them to follow personal laws in letter and spirit. During the programme efforts would be made to reach out to about 15 crore people with all available mediums.
