Mr Sandeep Dikshit, MP from Okhla constituency New Delhi, lauded the efforts of Human Welfare Trust for establishing a 300-bed hospital at Abul Fazl Enclave, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi during his visit to Al-Shifa Multi-specialty Hospital and Research Centre on April 2.
He said, “We are very happy that Human Welfare Trust has chosen our constituency to start such a multi-speciality hospital.”
Mr Dikshit assured the gathering that he would extend all necessary help to the hospital, especially immediate provision of electricity to the hospital.
The 300-bed Al-Shifa Hospital is now ready to be inaugurated once it gets electricity facility, informed Brig. Zafar Ali, the CEO of the hospital.
He sought intervention of Mr Dikshit for the provision of electricity as well as for the covering up of the open drainage canal along the roadside in front of the hospital.
He said, “The construction work of the hospital has been completed and the required medical equipments and machinery to run the hospital have already been arranged. We are trying our level best to start the hospital as early as possible but we face some difficulties in getting required power supply.”
Brig. Ali further said, “The purpose of establishing the hospital is to provide health care facility for poor people, especially those living in the Jamia Nagar locality at lowest possible charges which they can afford.”
He also said that the medical and para-medical staff members have been already appointed. He said, “We have appointed Dr Monawwar Khurshid as Chief Medical Officer of the hospital.”
Prof. KA Siddique Hassan, General Secretary of Human Welfare Trust, said, “Hospital is a part of Vision 2016 programme of the Trust. Al-Shifa is not a corporate hospital for economic gain, nor will it function as a private hospital. It will be self-dependent.
“High-tech medical care has become very expensive, mainly due to the exorbitant prices of imported equipment. It is therefore not possible to offer free treatment. Charging minimum charges is necessary, but it can be kept at reasonable level. Keeping in view, the benefit of the public, the Human Welfare Trust has kept the provision in its plan to provide health care facilities at an affordable cost,” said Prof. Hassan.
