A Saudi woman, Dr. Huda Al-Mansour, despite all odds and obstacles, has proved that women are second to none and are capable enough to contribute to the society meaningfully. At present, Al-Mansour has 10 international patents registered under her name which is indeed a remarkable achievement and deserves all praise and recognition for her remarkable contribution for the sake of society.
Her efforts have earned her praise locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Since her childhood days, she had developed a keen interest in inventions and the results are before us today. Her father too played an instrumental role in drafting the Saudi Labour Law.
Very recently, in an interview, she said that her father always encouraged her for quality education and ethics whereas her mother reminded her often to remain socially active and have a strong will to get things done despite hurdles. Al-Mansour graduated from Cairo University’s School of Sciences in 1985. She worked as a laboratory specialist at King Fahd Hospital before going to the UK in 1992 for her postgraduate studies. She completed her master’s degree in clinical chemistry in 1994 and was also appointed Director of a hereditary blood disease centre there. Al-Mansour is still trying to get approval from the Saudi government to allow her to sell some of her patented inventions in the country.
