Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has announced, in its declaration ceremony, to organise India International Islamic Academic Conference at India Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi on 8-9 October, 2016.
The basic aims of this conference are to present and understand the objectivity under the three main themes, Islamic Epistemology, Identity Formation: Nation State, Civil Society and Islam and Civilizational Discourses in the Light of Maqasid al-Sharia. Laeeq Ahmed Khan, National Secretary of the organisation said eminent intellectuals and expert researchers from across the globe will present their views on the topics with clarity and authority.

Prof. Afzal Wani, Dean, University School of Law and Legal Studies, GSS Indraprastha University, said the themes and the topics are very appreciative and will ensure objectivity in the conference. The conference with vast range of participants will bring clarity in Islamic thought, meaning and purpose of life, aims and objectives of Shari’ah. It will send the message across the world in a very lucid and crystal way which is the need of the hour. “All the academic research and development in various subjects had come from us but in-between the exploitative elements crept in and we could not think to explore beyond; even the first book on international law was written by a Muslim,” he averred.
Dr. Zafar-ul Islam Khan, Editor of The Milli GazetteI, said that we hardly now debate and discuss such fundamental and vital issues and neither our scholars nor Ulama remind us about such issues. This is not only true to India but a fact internationally. The possible reason could be either our scholars are not that capable or do not have the courage to speak or write on such important issues. For all social issues we are confronted with, we verbally say that Islam is the solution to all but so far we have not been able to present a living and practical model for that. Riba is haram but none of the Muslim countries has presented a practical model and system. I hope this conference would go a long way in educating our scholars and the people on these important topics and issues related to them.

Mohammad Salim Engineer, Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, said that the community was created to guide the whole world while the present overall scenario of Muslims nationally and internationally is deplorable. The present mess we are in provides us with an opportunity to try to find out a solution based on the guidance and principles of the Qur’ān and Sunnah and with the knowledge they give. And to develop the human mind, human intellectual, reasoning and logic and rationality are required. The scientific development and research methodology is moving in a certain direction and this Ummah has to come forward to give a definite direction to the masses.

Iqbal Hussain, National President of SIO said that last year the organisation organised an international conference on communal harmony in BHU and this year we have planned another international conference and we will try to make it a great success with cooperation and support from our elders and scholars.
