Solidarity Youth Movement held a grand rally at Calicut against the Indo-US nuclear deal. “No Pardon for Manmohan” was the slogan raised in the rally. The rally led by Solidarity leaders, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and other social activists warned that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should not become the Viceroy of US and sell India.
Mr. D. Devarajan, National secretary of Forward Bloc inaugurated the public conference held at Muthalakkulam ground. He opined that Manmohan Singh is speaking in the language of George Bush and is enslaving the country to US. The days of Manmohan and Bush are counted. Trials are going on to make India a mere province of US. Manmohan is moving ahead rejecting all the assurances he gave to the Left Front and the people’s desires. The whole country is against the deal. But the government alone is supporting it.
The most expensive nuclear energy is bringing all the dangers this deal has as the solution to power crisis. Coal and Hydel projects are comparatively very cheaper than this. It is clear that the deal is for the benefit of American nuclear corporates. The proposed natural gas project from Iran is the real solution to the crisis. But that deal is frozen under the threat of US.
New Delhi is witnessing horse-trading for ensuring the majority. The cost of an MP is 25-100 crores. The government has to clarify the purpose of the deal. US has made another law – Hyde Act – to ‘defend’ Indian interests. This is an attack on the sovereignty of India, he added.
Solidarity State president P. Mujeeb Rahman presided over the function. Madhyamam Editor O. Abdurahman, Jamaat-e-Islami state general secretary M.K. Mohammed Ali, social activist CR. Neelakantan and SIO state president C. Dawood also spoke in the function. Solidarity State Secretary M. Sajid welcomed the delegation and District President S. Kamarudheen delivered vote of thanks.
