Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, while expressing grave concern over growing incidents of violence against Dalits and minorities, asked the government to take strict action against all violating law and order. In reply to a question during the monthly briefing at its headquarters on 6 August, JIH Ameer said Jamaat has always maintained that everyone should raise his voice and protest against injustice done towards any section of the society and if need arises then Jamaat would also protest collectively or from its own platforms as and when required against rising incidents of violence against Dalits and minorities on the pretext of cow protection. Maulana Umari also said that we are not against anybody who has reverence towards the cow but they must not be allowed to take the law into their hands and attack others.

JIH Secretary General, Muhammad Salim Engineer, while replying to a question, said that the GST has still a long way to go and after its implementation the prices will go up and the common man will have to suffer. He cautioned against the likely decision of the government to fix the rate at 18 per cent and urged the government not to exceed it beyond 14 per cent. He also said that if the government is going ahead, it should try what the Malaysian government did: they along with GST also formulated a separate law on price; then only it will be considered pragmatic and people’s friendly.

The Secretary General of JIH also informed media persons that Jamaat has also written to Foreign Ministry to express concern and enquire about 10,000 Indian workers stranded in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia due to loss of jobs. Jamaat has asked the government of India to bring back these workers at the earliest and take all requisite measures to rehabilitate them.
Jamaat, in a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent on 27 June 2016, has informed that in-spite of some positive signals there are major failures by the present dispensation. There has been a steady rise in the communal conflict in the country. Crimes against the Muslim community, Dalits, and other weaker sections have resulted in a sense of insecurity and fear. Violence against students, journalists, and teachers demonstrates the failure of the state to uphold the rule of law and provide safety and security irrespective of caste, creed and profession.
