Talks Meaningless When SC to Hear Title Suit: Nusrat Ali

In principle, members of the AIMPLB are aware of the Board’s point of view on issues like this and decisions are taken collectively and unanimously after thorough deliberations on the given issue. In principle, members of the AIMPLB are aware of the Board’s point of view on issues like this and decisions are taken collectively and unanimously after thorough deliberations on the given issue. And any individual should take care of his obligations towards association before making any statement, Mr. Nusrat Ali, Naib Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind told Radiance.

Just a day before the Board’s meeting was to be held on 9 February, one of the executive members of the Board, Salman Nadvi met Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and made a statement and also gave interview to ETV which was contrary to the Board’s age old views on Babri Masjid. He also announced his disassociation from the Board and the Board had no option other than sacking him. It is the Board’s view that the Masjid is a waqf property and it can neither be sold, nor gifted to anybody and also cannot be shifted to any other place. In the past too, on many occasions at different levels those at the helm of affairs have talked on the Babri issue and now when the court has said that they are going to hear the title suit then the question of talking outside the court is meaningless.

On the question whether any effort was made during the meet to avoid any such situation where an individual gives a statement individually which later becomes a controversy and the Board has to defend itself, Mr. Ali said a committee was formed to defuse the situation but in vain. On the focus of the meet, he said apart from many issues the issue of triple talaq was discussed in detail and it was categorically said that the talaq bill is not only anti-Shari’ah but anti-Constitution also.
