Dr. Sheikh Saud Bin Ibrahim Al-Shuraim, Imam-e-Haram, Makkah Mukarrama, during his 5-day visit to India, addressed the 31st All India Ahl-e-Hadees Conference at Ramleela Maidan in the capital, and led the Friday prayer on March 2. In his Jumah Khutba, he emphasised the unity of the Muslim Ummah and pressed for solidarity among them. He said the need of the hour is to present Islam to the world in its pure and pristine form, free from any invention, concoction or fabrication.
He further expressed the need to follow the ways of our beloved Sahabas and said they should be our role models and we all must imbibe them by forgetting the differences of maslak or mazhab. We should present the live examples of Sahabas so that others can also take lessons from it.
He lamented about the present situation of the world and said in such a situation where the whole world is plunging deep into the abyss of mental and physical exploitation, Islam can deliver the wriggling humanity from pain and pressure as it has the best Nizam-e-Hayat (System of life) which is mercy from the Lord and which is capable of solving all the problems of humanity.
Another issue that is eating up the world and hindering the process of peace and tranquillity is the presence of racism. Racism should be wiped out from the world and in this regard Islam presents an outstanding example where there is no distinction between black and white and no one has any kind of superiority over others, he said.
He said being in India is a privilege for him, and expressed extreme pleasure over the response of people and respect they showed to him. “I feel homely in India,” he said.
Sheikh Al-Shuraim has been serving as an Imam and orator of Haram Shareef since 1991. He has served as a judge in Saudi Arabia as well and holds the degree of Ph.D. from Ummul Qura University, Makkah.
