The need to create a better future for the young generations and the necessity to educate these bright minds to another level was emphasised at an event organised by All India Muslim Advocates Forum for Justice at River View Hotel in the national capital on 3rd April.

Lawyer Athar Alam, convenor of the event, while opening up the programme, said, “We are here to eradicate the negativity in the minds and to ponder over the prevailing situation in the country and to discuss the way forward from here onwards.”

The Chief Guest, Majeed Memon, a noted criminal lawyer of India, while speaking on, “Muslim Think Tank on Nation Building,” said, “We must get rid of Inferiority Complex, if any, as we are blessed by the Lord. We must believe in ourselves, within our hearts and souls. We should bring up the bright and good students and will talk to Prime Minister to do ‘Sabka sath, sabka vikas’, and get the place we deserve. With all that I have I want to help my people and those who are oppressed. I will also fight for them. I am for those who want justice. I’m for Muslims and the needy ones. The thing is we should serve our society while doing any profession. We shouldn’t lose hope but act. We’ve contributed to the freedom of this nation and after partition our strugglers have chosen this part for us, India.”
He added, “Do not waste the time we have given to this discussion. We need to educate our children especially for IPS. Within our families we have to think, why we behind are. There is no need to get disappointed, truth will prevail.”
Justice Fakhruddin, former Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh and M.P High Court on this occasion, said, “I have been thinking where the problem is. What is happening in our country should not happen. Most of the speakers mentioned points regarding strong grounds. There is need to correct our behaviour towards each other. People know Muslim advocates are truthful; Majeed Memon is an example. People know him because he is a great advocate. He further said we will help in building the nation democratically no matter who is in power; we will work for the nation. Today for the sake of nation building we should stand together and concentrate on training our youth for a better nation.”
Senior Supreme Court Advocate, Asrar Ahmad said, “It is a confused situation around us. The latest in the Election result has changed the system and their intentions have been quite clear. The government in power is trying to change the secular system. Suppose if by majority it doesn’t keep secular constitution, how will we survive?”
“All those who live in India love India. We do love India and we should show it and live with it. Whatever wrong happens, highly intellectual people should guide our communities through the tough times,” he added.

Dr. Eqbal Hussain, Professor at Jamia Millia Islamia, stated that even in the profession of advocacy these dignitaries still have their eyes on social issues whenever there is a need. “According to the students, this is an important discussion. If we keep our eyes closed to these events, our new generation won’t forgive us. The way the political situations are changing, it’s obligatory to think about the generations coming forth.”

Referring to the Preamble of Indian Constitution, he said that after the Independence in 1947 it was decided that the nation will be guided by one Constitution. The citizens of India are the source of it, and the nature of it being Sovereign, Socialist, Secular and Democratic. Then the four objectives i.e. Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity should be our guiding factors. But as we see the current situation, it poses a question to our secular formation. Recently in UP 100 rules were formed, our food and places worship are talked about. Clearly the quality of our nation is fading. “We need to unite, the people of the nation must rise, and everyone must be loyal towards his country,” he added.

Javed Ahmad, advocate in Delhi Court, said, “I think this is the time we must think about our duties. The need of the hour is to think of our education system. How we as individuals can contribute to our communities is the serious matter?”

Dr. Rihan Khan Suri, Training and Placement Officer at Jamia Millia Islamia, said, “The lack of education in our communities has caused the problems that we see in the current time. Our communities are missing quality education and orientation of the young minds. The purpose of getting educated is not understood and afterwards problems related to jobs arise.”
