Sharing the festivities of Eid-ul-Azha (Eid of sacrifice) together with different faith leaders and prominent persons, an Eid together was organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind at Constitution Club in the Capital on December 14.
In view of the situation prevailing in the country the Jamaat recently launched a fortnight campaign on “Peace and Justice” and led countrywide caravans. This Eid Get Together was organised to analyse the current crisis and to suggest suitable remedies.
Addressing the Eid Get-together, Mr. Teg Singh of Ambedkar Samaj extended Eid greeting to Jamaat leaders and all Muslims. Pointing out on the grave situation the Muslim community has been facing in the country since Independence and recent terror attacks and blasts, he said, “We have been saying for the last 15 years that there is no Muslim or Islamic terrorism in India but ‘Hindu Terrorism’ as the killing of ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, who was honestly exposing ‘Hindu Terrorism’, proves.”
Mr Singh insisted Muslims to fight direct political war together with Dalits against dominant castes as he said together they can be in majority.
President Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, after congratulating Eid greetings to all participants, said that Muslims have only two festivals i.e. Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha. “This Eid signifies the great sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) when he was ready to sacrifice his lone son on God’s command. Allah just wanted to test the Prophet, He never wants to sacrifice or kill man, so God sent cattle to sacrifice in place of Prophet Ibrahim’s son, and this Eid reminds us that we can sacrifice anything in the way of Allah,” he said.
“As it is being uttered that India is divided into various castes and creeds, some castes have been controlling the whole state of affairs since long but after the independence religious biases increased among countrymen as compared to castes biases. We have to understand differences prevailing among different religions and would seek common things to work together while other differences should be discussed ideologically to adopt better things. No doubt, India is a democratic country but here weaker and oppressed sections are becoming weaker as some dominant sections want to make them so. It would destroy the unity of this country,” Maulana Umari added.
Pointing out the slow progress of the Muslim community and other weaker sections in the country, he affirmed, “No community or caste can progress in the face of a hanging sword.”
Congratulating the Jamaat cadre for successfully organising Peace and Justice Caravan, he said, “When basic pillars of democracy – equality, justice and liberty – were trembling we had decided to launch this caravan to restore the pillars of democracy and people all over the country warmly welcomed our caravans.”
He also cited people welcoming the caravans, “You are the first organisation which is taking out caravans for restoring justice and peace to us.”
On forming a political party, the Jamaat chief said, “We have to adopt some strategy to get the country rid of this critical situation. We don’t want justice only for Muslims but for the whole country. We Muslims have been bearing injustices since long. Now this is time to provide justice for all citizens of India for establishing peace in the country.”
Mr. Subradeep Chakervarti, Documentary film maker, lauded the Jamaat’s Peace and Justice Caravan as he was also part of it. He also praised Muslims’ boosting morale and progress and contributions of Muslim youths, journalists, preachers to the progress of India.
Advocate Z. K. Faizan suggested to Muslims to join politics: “Not just politicians’ role is shocking but police, administrations, media and other agencies’ roles have now become dire in India. All decisions are taken at the political stage. So we have to get ourselves involved in politics for playing a major role in the development of the country.”
Raising questions on the recent terror incidents in India, Mr. Faizan said, “When ATS Chief and ATS team were investigating and exposing some great names and floating names of some Hindu organisations as the perpetrators of terrorists attacks, so, can’t it be possible that it (killing ATS chief) is done by them? Or to divert the ongoing investigation into Malegaon, Nanded and Kanpur blasts? These organisations sponsored terrorists for executing the attacks.”
Veteran politician Mr. Kishorilalji advised the Jamaat to float a political party with other weaker sections as he said that Muslims have become mere vote banks of other parties.
Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas, member Jamaat’s central advisory council, coordinating the get-together, briefed the aims and objectives of this meeting and shared with participant the present scenario of the country.
