In the prevailing socio-political atmosphere in the country, the Welfare Party of India has planned a national movement during 1-18 April on the theme, India is for All Indians. After informing the roadmap of this agitation during a press meet called by the party functionaries at the Press Club in the national capital on 30 March, the party president, S.Q.R Ilyas said, the situation in India has reached to such a state where people are feeling like strangers in their own homeland. It is very disturbing and dangerous.

The youth, farmers, minorities, Adivasis, labourers and people of different areas are now protesting on the streets. The atmosphere of communal amity has been disturbed since the government took over the governance. India is a multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-linguistic society. This country can only move forward if there is a feeling of togetherness. Double standard and different parameters for different people will further push the country backwards.

In reply to a question, President of Welfare Party said, our party believes in the concept of a ‘welfare state’ where the welfare of the people is supreme. The people should have at least minimum basic needs and there should be an equal distribution of wealth and resources and the law of the land will be equal for rich and poor.

Issues like mob lynching, killing of journalists and social activists, farmers’ suicide, unemployment, corruption, hate and violence, diminishing law and order in the state, plundering of wealth from banks, riots turmoil in the campus and many more issues were raised during the press conference.

The National Secretary of the Welfare Party of India, Mr K. Ambujakshan, while addressing media persons, said, “When we got Independence and adopted the Constitution of India it was for every Indian irrespective of their caste, sex and religion. Freedom, rights, justice, equality were for every section of society and for all Indians. But today after 70 years of Independence under the BJP rule different sections of societies are being sidelined and are being excluded from the scenario of being in power and are not enjoying their respective due rights enshrined in the Constitution.”

The party president also informed the audience that this movement will be concluded at Parliament Street on 18 April which happens to be the Foundation Day of the party with an impressive rally. Various political leaders, eminent socio-cultural activists will also address the gathering to mark the occasion.

The party also demanded to ensure due representation for Muslims in Parliament and legislative assemblies as per population ratio, repeal all draconian laws, declare racist abuse against Muslims as a crime and ensure social dignity of Dalits and Adivasis, ensure reliability and transparency of all Constitutional Institutions and roll back EVM and bring paper ballot for Lok Sabha and legislative assembly elections.
