“Political parties which use money of the corporate to finance their election expenditure cannot work for the welfare of people, instead they are merely servants of the corporate, however our party, Welfare Party of India, will contest election only on the basis of masses and their money and will use it for the welfare of people as we are not the servants of the corporate,” said Mujtaba Farooq, National President of Welfare Party of India while launching the party’s Rajasthan state chapter in Jaipur.
He said WPI has been formed to transform politics and political structure of the country into a value-based structure and it is working hard to make the country a real welfare state. He said the situation these days is that people have no choice but to elect less corrupt from the lot of ‘all corrupts.’ He further said the party would try its level best to rid people from exploitation of corrupt leaders and will bring them out of the slavery to their masters to the real freedom.
Dr. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, General Secretary of the party, said every party is full of characterless and corrupt people and generally once ousted from one party, they easily find their place in other parties, however in WPI there is no place for corrupt individuals. He said it is state’s responsibility that no one should go to bed empty belly, no one should remain naked, no one should remain homeless, however no party has yet delivered to this dream of the poor.
On this occasion the names of the newly-elected office bearers of the party were declared. Ms. Lalita K Nair, National Vice-President of WPI and ex-Minister in Karnataka government said, “Today power is in the hands of the rich having small and miser hearts; however our party will endeavour that it should come in the hands of the poor having big hearts.” Engineer Mohd. Saleem, National Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind said the Jamaat, for the first time, has given its members permission to join the party. He, while expressing hope that the party would do well in its mission, challenged that if the party deviates from its principles then the Jamaat would take away its support.
